Having long been in the eye of the local authorities, rap music has now emerged as one of the most popular music genres among young people in China.

Thanks to the famous program The Rap of China, launched in 2017, and the explosion of TikTok, many artists have managed to reach an international audience. Since 2021, the program Hip Hop Girl (黑怕女孩), the first female rapper battle broadcast on TV in the country, has been helping to raise the visibility of Chinese artists in this thriving scene.
