Listen to our new Madame Talk with Parisian rapper/singer Thérèse !

A musician, fashion designer and activist, Thérèse raps and sings in French, English and Chinese. French-born with Chinese, Laotian and Vietnamese origins, she grew up in Val-de-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis, and then lived between Lyon, Barcelona, Beijing and Munich during her studies before settling in Paris.

In September 2020, she released the track “T.O.X.I.C, which talks about toxic relationships and the need to set free from their grip. Two months later, with the song “Chinoise ?“, she spoke out against everyday racism and the fetishization of Asian people.

As she just turned 35, she released her first EP called “Rêvalité”. The 7-track project, composed during the first lockdown, mixes hip hop, pop and electro with both dark and bright, introspective and yet universal lyrics.

Thérèse told us about her contradictions, her deep-rooted relationship to writing and her ambivalent vision of social networks. She also talked about the lack of representativeness of Asian women in our society and her will for common recreation and togetherness.
