As in mainland France, rap emerged in the French overseas territories in the 90s. And if some rap trends are inspired by Caribbean music, some Caribbean artists are inspired by rap. Yet, as women and non-metropolitans, female rappers from the French Overseas Territories are often left out of the French rap map.
